An Ode To Vet Med
For the lovers of fur, the fighters of fleas, and the fixers of all things four-legged.
Oh vet med, you beautiful beast,
You offer no break, no nap, no feast.
Yet still we come, day after day,
To poke, to prod, to spay and pray.
With scrubs askew and fur in hair,
We walk through doors and show we care.
For dogs who tremble, cats who wail,
For nails too long and gums too pale.
We clean the mess, we hold the paw,
We diagnose the tiniest flaw.
From birds with sneezes to goats with gas,
We learn each species, each quirky class.
We wear the hats of tech and vet,
Of therapist, friend, and unpaid pet-sitter yet.
Receptionists juggling phones and files,
Smiling through the longest miles.
Our charts are full, our breaks are few,
But still we do what we came to do.
We laugh at zoomies, cry for pain,
And stand by pets through loss and gain.
We lift the old, we cheer the new,
We mourn the ones who don’t pull through.
And somehow in that ache and grind,
We never leave our heart behind.
So here’s to you, dear vet med crew –
The nurses, doctors, support team too.
To kennel staff with magic hands,
To lab techs making brave quick scans.
To everyone who shows up tired,
But finds a spark and still feels inspired.
This path is rough, it takes its toll,
But every soul here plays a role.
And when the world forgets our name,
Or thinks our job’s just puppy games –
Remember this: you make things right
In darkest times, you are the light.
So this is our ode, our standing ovation.
For your care, your grit, your dedication.
Vet med, you are hard – but you are true.
And we wouldn’t trade a single chewed shoe.
